Set Goals

Landmark events in your life lend themselves to be a great way to set goals. I have a cousin getting married in Cancun, Mexico in May of this year, and I have already informed her that I will be attending.

Yes, a wedding on the beach. This, unequivocally, translates into: the beach body.

So I have about 5 months to do my best to look great into a dress I already own, or do the ultimate challenge and try to fit into a a brand new dress that is a size smaller than what I own. Either way, it allows me to set a goal date that is very attainable.

What have I been doing to prepare? Well, I want to do a workout program that gets me working out about 6 times a week. It's high-energy, high-impact and high-cardio.

I think the trick might be to take my 5 month goal and break it up into little goals, such as complete my 6-day a week workout routine each week. These little chunks might make reaching the goal more manageable.

Is it bad that I already have a deterrent for this week's goal? I'm going to Mexico to visit family this weekend and it's a three-day trip, meaning I probably will not get to work out for those three days. Despite this, I believe it's good to have a plan when faced with unavoidable situations: eat as healthy as possible for these three days.

Can she do it, folks? We shall see...

  1. EL YAY! Thank you for writing and reminding me of the blog.

I can say that even if you don't eat too healthy in Mexico you can limit how much you eat and make sure to walk everywhere instead of driving (if possible). It's probably also cold and rainy...yup, 50°F and drizzle, just checked.

I'm glad you're going. Enjoy and say hi to Fina for me!
